Video: Students Show Their Skills in State Firefighting Competition

A statewide firefighting competition was held at Lexington Technology Center Tuesday.

Students from five schools across the state demonstrated their firefighting skills in a competition Thursday at the Lexington Technology Center.

The students, who are all in firefighting programs at their schools, had to pull dummies out of smoke-filled buildings, carry and raise ladders, tie and hoist equiment and roll and load fire hoses. 

Students from Dorchester County Career and Technology Center, Anderson Districts I & II Career and Technology Center, Westwood High, Lexington Technology Center and the Pickens County Career and Technology Center participated.

The winning team was from Anderson Districts I & II Career and Technology Center. The trophy? An actual fire hydrant donated by the Town of Lexington.
