3 Detained After Meth Lab Find

Police detain three people after investigating suspected meth lab in Wakendaw Lakes.

Three people were detained following the discovery of a suspected meth lab inside a home on normally quiet Wakendaw Blvd., according to media reports.

Police began investigating the illicit lab around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Wakendaw Blvd. was closed and residents were asked to stay inside their homes as officers assessed the situation, according to WCSC-TV.

Officers cleared out just before midnight. Earlier in the evening, police detained three people, and media reports suggest a fourth person, an elderly woman, was led from the home on a stretcher, WCBD-TV reported.

HAZMAT teams and numerous emergency medical crews and firefighters were on the scene as a precaution, according to WCIV-TV.

It wasn't immediately clear, according to WCBD, whether the meth lab was active or if the home's occupants simply had the chemicals needed to produce the drug.
