• Charleston student athletes cross the finish line after a 200-mile tribute relay to honor beloved local coach (counton2.com) — A 200-mile tribute relay across South Carolina just wrapped up with local runners raising money for the Mount Pleasant Track Club, Academic Magnet boys’ cross country, and the Lonon Foundation. The run honored beloved coach Brian Johnson, who led Academic Magnet’s distance programs for a decade and inspired athletes with his perseverance through illness and relentless support.
   

• This James Island couple has decorated their house for Christmas for over 40 years (postandcourier.com) — A James Island couple’s famously over-the-top Christmas display has delighted neighbors for more than 40 years, inspiring their daughter to light up her own home in Mount Pleasant. The O’Keefes start decorating in October, filling their yard and “Christmas room” with thousands of lights, themed trees, and inflatable Santas that draw steady streams of visiting families and kids. Their grandson now looks ready to carry the tradition forward.
   

• 'It will probably never snow like that here again': Coastal SC remembers its only white Christmas (postandcourier.com) — Longtime coastal residents are remembering the rare 1989 white Christmas that dropped about 8 inches of snow on Mount Pleasant and shut down much of the South Carolina coast. Locals recall treacherous drives over the Cooper River Bridge, improvised sleds on dunes, and community efforts to keep events and travel going. Many say it’s unlikely the area will ever see that much snow again.
