Lucas Smith

Lucas McDowell Smith, 40, husband of Helen Lee Smith of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. The friends and family of Lucas Smith are invited to attend a memorial service on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MT. PLEASANT CHAPEL, 1494 Mathis Ferry Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. The family will greet friends following the service.

Lucas was born in Columbia, SC on June 22, 1971. He was the son of Diane Rawl Cartledge and Ellison Durant Smith IV. A devoted father and entrepreneur, Lucas owned Pelican Dry Cleaners and was the captain of the charter boat, “The Osprey.” He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church.

Lucas is survived by his wife, Helen Lee Smith of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his daughter, Eleanor Mincy Bleecker of Charleston, SC; his son, Lucas Lee Smith of Mt. Pleasant, SC; his father, Ellison Durant Smith IV and his wife, Martha of Sullivans Island, SC; his mother, Diane Cartledge of Sullivans Island, SC; and stepbrothers Stroud and Jake Honeycutt.
