Police Conduct Sting on Alleged Prostitution Business
Police have arrested a 40-year-old Mount Pleasant woman after a two-month investigation into reports she was running a prostitution business out of her Scranton Drive home, according to reports.
Dawn Marie McGovern has been charged with one count of prostitution and one count of operating a business without a license, according to reports. In September, police first received reports of the prostitution business from a concerned citizen.

Officers went online this month to the site BackPage.com where they saw an advertisement for the erotic massage business, the police report said. An undercover male officer arranged for a $150 massage.
After stripping nude and allowing McGovern to perform an all-over massage, the suspect allegedly touched the officer’s genitals and offered to perform sex acts on the officer.

The undercover police officer refused the sexual contact and produced his badge, placing McGovern under arrest in a bedroom inside the home, the report said.
McGovern was also cited for operating a business without a license. She advertised several massage-related businesses, including BMM Coastal Massage LLC, but did not have a proper license, the report stated.
Thanksgiving Knife Attack Injures Man
Police have arrested a man on charges of attempted murder and armed robbery stemming from a Thanksgiving Day knife attack.
Christopher D. Silva, 31, of Pumpkin Lane, faces felony charges after police allege he was involved in some sort of dispute over powder cocaine outside the Bowman Road Exxon gas station, a police report said.
At some point, an alleged conflict over drugs moved to the suspect’s trailer on Pumpkin Lane. In the process, one man was stabbed and sought medical treatment at East Cooper Medical Center, according to the report.
That victim had a quarter-inch stab wound. He told police that Silva tried to rob him as he left his job at the gas station. After threatening the victim and several of his friends with a small knife, they followed him to the suspect’s trailer. That’s where the alleged attack took place.
Silva is still being held in the county jail on a $100,000 bond, court records indicate. The victim’s injuries were apparently not life threatening.
Police Investigate Armed Robbery
Police are searching for two men involved in a Dec. 1 armed robbery of the Chuck Dawley Boulevard Kangaroo Express gas station.
Two men reportedly held up the convenience store around 8 p.m. as the clerk was preparing a cash drop for the safe, the report said. One man pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money while the other suspect went behind the cash register and lifted several boxes of cigarettes.
The suspects wore white cloths across their faces as well as gloves, but the suspect with the gun was described as standing 6 feet tall, weighing 200 pounds, the report said. The other suspect was roughly 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighed 225 pounds.
The convenience store clerk’s friend, who just happened by the store as the suspects fled, told police the two men ran in the direction of Interstate 526.
Marijuana Plant Found in Couple’s Car
A couple who were sleeping in their vehicle at the Proprietor’s Place Walmart apparently had a potted marijuana plant in the front seat, according to a police report.
Mount Pleasant police had received multiple calls on Nov. 30 about Daniel Coreno and Sarah Kester sleeping in their SUV, the report said. Officers responded and woke the couple and immediately noticed the potted marijuana plant.
The suspects said they simply found the plant in the parking lot and put it in their vehicle, and that they were unaware it was marijuana, the report states. Officers charged them both with manufacturing marijuana.
