Fantasy Involved In Minor Crash

Ship has only cosmetic damage, no injuries

Carnival Fantasy, the 2,000-passenger Fun Ship homeported in Charleston, suffered a slight crash Tuesday while docking at the Port of Key West.

The 855-foot Fantasy was apparently mooring when it struck another cruise ship, Carnival Imagination, stern-to-stern, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The ship suffered only cosmetic damage. Photos show scraped paint on the very rear of the boat. The Coast Guard said no one was injured and the boats were not structurally damaged by the collision.

Alcohol and drug testing have been conducted on personnel in safety-sensitive positions as part of standard procedure, according to a news release. The Coast Guard is investigating the incident.

The Imagination was already docked when the Fantasy bumped its sister ship. The Fantasy is due back in Charleston on Friday after six days in the Caribbean.
