When it's complete, the overpass at Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and Bowman Road will be the central part of the massive traffic overhaul ongoing on U.S. Highway 17.
So on Monday night when crews poured the first batch of concrete on the span, it was cause for celebration. A crew of 30 men dumped tons of the mix on Monday to fill in the central portion of the bridge. It will take two more applications to completely cement the entire span.
