Former Mayor's Grandson Dies

Brittin Penniger, 24, was critically injured in Oct. 11 crash.

The 24-year-old grandson of former Mount Pleasant Mayor Harry Hallman died on Sunday, five days after being critically injured in a car crash, according to the Post and Courier.

Brittin Penninger ... died Sunday at 4:45 p.m. at Medical University Hospital, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kim Rhoton said.

Penninger was critically injured in a wreck on S.C. Highway 41 that stopped traffic in both directions before dawn, the newspaper reports.

Hallman was mayor until 2009 when he resigned due to deteorating health. He was also a state legislator for eight years prior to being elected mayor.
