Local Finds: Handcrafted Popsicles

King of Pops delivers fresh frozen treats.

Fresh Finds: King of Pops hand-crafted popsicles

Who’s making it: Andy McCarthy

How’s it made: McCarthy uses all-natural ingredients and flavorings. He prefers agave nectar for sweetener and organic cane sugar.

Where can you find it: King of Pops operates four carts in the Charleston area. They are on Folly Beach every day, and they relocate the others regularly. Follow them on Twitter and Facebook to find the day’s locations. Robot Candy Company and Boone’s Bar and Grill also stock the popsicles.

How much: Popsicles sell for $2.50 each

King of Pops sells a variety of flavors that change all the time. Best sellers are chocolate sea salt and banana pudding, but this week watermelon-lime and blackberry mojito were very popular.

“Our goal is to make them as healthy as possible,” said McCarthy, who started the business in Atlanta to rave reviews before relocating to Charleston earlier this year.
