Knife-Wielding Man Chases Woman
Mount Pleasant police have arrested a 40-year-old man, who had steroids in his possession, after he crashed through the gates at Dunes West and threatened a woman with a 12-inch buck knife.
Jason Hamilton Meyer faces assault and battery, failure to stop for police and malicious injury to property charges after the Sept. 24 incident, according to police reports.

Meyer allegedly followed the woman to Dunes West and rammed his Dodge pick-up through the gates, according to police. He then approached the woman’s vehicle with a knife and told her not to go anywhere.
When the woman fled, Meyer gave chase. About that time, police caught up with Meyer and the woman he was chasing.

Police wrote in their initial reports that the two didn’t know each other, but Meyer told police he believed the woman was in danger. The 17-year-old victim, told police she didn’t know Meyer and that he had been following her since Rifle Range Road.
Police recovered a 12-inch hunting knife from his truck as well as a vial of testosterone and a hypodermic needle, the report states.
Man Arrested for Fifth DUI
Mount Pleasant police have arrested a 34-year-old man for his fifth DUI, according to reports.
On Sept. 24, police spotted Joseph Franklin Kelly of Mount Pleasant nearly falling off his Yamaha moped as he entered an apartment complex off Highway 17. When police stopped Kelly, the officer detected an odor of alcohol on his breath.
He was arrested and charged as a habitual violator. Records show Kelly has received a DUI conviction every year since 2008 and had two DUI convictions in 2009.
Man Steals $5,500 in Apple Products from Walmart
Mount Pleasant police are searching for a suspect who walked off with nearly $5,500 in Apple products.
Video shows the suspect around 1 a.m. on Sept. 25 calmly walking into the Proprietors Place Walmart, unlocking the Apple display case and unloading several iPods and iPads.
He walked out with the items, and then apparently went home, changed clothes and then returned to take even more Apple products. The store’s surveillance cameras showed the suspect purchasing a gaming chair and then loading it into his vehicle and driving away around 4 a.m.
