Local Events to Mark 9/11 Anniversary
Events come on the 10th anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attacks.

Three Sunday events in Mount Pleasant will mark the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on America.
8:46 a.m. – Patriots Point Naval and Maritime Museum will have a public reading of all the names of 9,000 Americans killed in the attacks and since in military conflicts. The readings will take place aboard the USS Yorktown, the WWII-era aircraft carrier on display at the facility.
There will also be a wreath-laying ceremony. Patriots Point is waving the normal $5 parking fee if you arrive before 9 a.m. The event is free.
8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. – will hold two special services. Guest preacher, the Rev. Rob Dewey, senior chaplain with the Coastal Crisis Chaplaincy, will officiate.

2 p.m. – The city will hold a POW/MIA flag ceremony at .
On Daniel Island…
9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. – Providence Baptist Church will hold a musical tribute featuring a hand bell performance Barbara Werner whose father was killed when the Twin Towers collapsed. The sanctuary will display the 3,000 names killed on 9/11. The church is located at 294 Seven Farms Drive, Charleston.

On Isle of Palms…
5 p.m. – St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 300 Palm Blvd., will hold a special 9/11 Remembrance Service.
