Clemson Sophomore Found Dead

Coroner: Alcohol may be a factor in death of Mount Pleasant sophomore.

A 19-year-old Mount Pleasant native was reported dead Saturday off campus near Clemson University, according to the Pickens County Coroner.

Tyler J. Karolczyk, a sophomore business major at the university, was reported as being unconscious by his roommate at 10:46 a.m. on Saturday, said Coroner Kandy Kelley.

Though she will need toxicology test results to be certain, Kelley said there were signs that alcohol was a factor in the death. It takes 6 to 8 weeks for those test results to come back, she said.
