A nighttime road closure will occur between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8 through Thursday, Jan. 12 for drainage work on South Shellmore Boulevard (by Firestone).

  • The road closure will also affect Johnnie Dodds Boulevard (U.S. Highway 17) and a small portion of East Frontage Road.
  • During this construction, turning lanes off Johnnie Dodds Boulevard will be closed in both directions.
  • Drivers will not be able to cross Johnnie Dodds Boulevard at the intersection, and will be directed through a detour with barricades and signs.
  • The purpose of the detour is for safety reasons, so crews can install drainage pipes.
  • Drivers choosing to use Johnnie Dodds Boulevard during the evenings from January 8-12 are encouraged to drive with extra caution.

If the weather is poor, the work will continue on the next weather-permitting night.

Drivers traveling through the project’s construction zone are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area at all times. Alternative routes are recommended if possible. The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs, reductions in speed limit and message board information, and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.
