Nighttime Delays on Johnnie Dodds

Avoid highway during 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

Due to rain delays last week, Charleston County Government announces a change in schedule for last week’s traffic alert for the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard Improvements Project in Mount Pleasant. The new schedule is:

  • Today, minor traffic delays may occur as construction crews relocate equipment across Bowman Road (at the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard intersection) between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Law enforcement officers from the Town of Mount Pleasant will be on site to direct traffic if needed while the equipment is being moved.

Drivers traveling through the construction zones are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area. The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs and message board information, and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.

The goal of the project, which is expected to be completed in the fall of 2012, is to improve the traffic flow in and out of Mount Pleasant, especially before and after school and work hours. The project is funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by Charleston County Government, in close coordination with the Town of Mount Pleasant and the S.C. Department of Transportation.
