Nighttime Road Closures on Johnnie Dodds
Frontage road traffic diverted near Anna Knapp Boulevard.

Charleston County Government has announced traffic alert as part of the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard Improvements Project in Mount Pleasant that will affect Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and frontage roads in two phases of work to install drainage pipes.
Phase 1: Sept. 8 late evening road closures:
- From 11 p.m. on Thursday night, Sept. 8, until 6 a.m. the next morning, drivers should expect road closures on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard just south of Anna Knapp Blvd. near the VW dealership.
- Northbound traffic will be barricaded and diverted onto Dragoon Blvd. onto East Frontage Road and then onto Anna Knapp Blvd.
- Road closures will be coordinated with the Town of Mount Pleasant Police Department.
- The work is necessary to install drainage pipes across Johnnie Dodds Boulevard.
- If the weather is poor on Sept. 8, the work will be completed during the same timeframe on the next weather-permitting evening.

Drivers traveling through the construction zones are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area. The public is also asked to notice traffic control signs and message board information, and to note that all road work is dependent on the weather.
The goal of the project, which is expected to be completed in the spring of 2013, is to improve the traffic flow in and out of Mount Pleasant, especially before and after school and work hours. The project is funded by the Charleston County Transportation Sales Tax and managed by Charleston County Government, in close coordination with the Town of Mount Pleasant and the S.C. Department of Transportation.
