Nighttime Roadwork Illegal
Town banned overnight construction work years ago, but now says it's unavoidable.
A Mount Pleasant woman, who says she can't get a good night's rest with all the evening roadwork on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard, says the overnight projects are actually against town ordinance, according to a WCBD-TV story.
But town leaders say despite the law, there's just no way to complete the massive overhaul during the day. They plan to change the ordinance, but in the future, they will instruct road crews to mind the noise as much as possible.
The road project is months ahead of schedule and should be complete by December.
