RV, boat storage plan moves forward in Mount Pleasant with more than 400 trees slated for removal (postandcourier.com) — A large RV, boat, and trailer storage project on Venning Road in Mount Pleasant is moving forward, but only after town design reviewers raised sharp concerns about cutting down more than 400 trees on the wooded site. Neighbors and board members questioned whether buffers and layout changes could better protect mature oaks, and the developer must now return with revised plans that address tree preservation and screening for nearby neighborhoods.

2. Warming Center Openings Due to Cold Weather (holycitysinner.com) — If you need a warm place tonight, Hibben Emergency Cold Shelter on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant is open with admission from 7–9 p.m. and evening pickup downtown. The listing also includes hours, transportation options, and contacts for additional shelters in North Charleston and Summerville.
   

3. Truck chases down pedestrian (postandcourier.com) — Mount Pleasant police responded after a juvenile reported that a pickup truck harassed and chased them along a sidewalk in Upper Mount Pleasant near Whitehall Terrace and Highway 17. Officers say the driver denied trying to hit the child, and the victim’s father declined to press charges, but police warned the driver that any future threats could lead to prosecution.

This Grand Strand city rated a top spot (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Mount Pleasant lands in the top 10 best places to live in South Carolina for 2026, according to a new Houzeo ranking that also highlights Myrtle Beach and other cities. The list weighs cost of living, housing prices, and quality-of-life factors that may influence where new residents choose to settle next year.
