Pleasant Toastmasters Given Top Status
Local speakers group earns high marks for growth and leadership awards.

Pleasant Speakers Toastmasters Club recently achieved President’s Distinguished status for the 2010-2011 year. Out of 100 clubs statewide, Pleasant Speakers was among just 25 given the honor.
Pleasant Speakers is one of five clubs that serves the East Cooper community. This award is the highest distinction that a Toastmasters club can earn by meeting both rigorous educational achievements in leadership and communications while also exceeding club membership goals, according to a club news release.
In the past year, Pleasant Speakers grew by more than 180 percent. During this time, club President Brian Richards became a Distinguished Toastmaster, which is the highest leadership and speaking certification that a Toastmaster can earn. This distinction typically takes several years to achieve.

Glenn Stafford, Vice President of Education and Training led the entire state of South Carolina by earning the highest number of educational awards. Sudie Archibald served successfully as the club’s coach while also earning many awards.
Out of more than 1,600 Toastmasters statewide, Carol Ann Embler, vice president public relations was selected as District 58’s 2010-2011 Toastmaster of the Year for her exceptional contributions in leadership.

Carol Ann Embler was also recently appointed to the statewide 2011-2012 Executive Leadership Team as Toastmasters District 58 Public Relations Officer.
