Report: Standoff Set Off by Repo Man

Today, the Post and Courier reports that a repo man coming for the Mount Pleasant mans' Lexus SUV was the tipping point for DeClemente, 38, who was once a successful businessman and highly commended volunteer rescue worker.

Dogged by stalking allegations and facing foreclosure on his home, the once well-off Mount Pleasant man had gone from living the high life to subsisting on Ramen noodles and fruit. Stressed out and low on cash, he hit bottom Thursday when a repossession company came looking for his Lexus, his brother, Jason DeClemente, told the Post and Courier.
"That was the tipping point," he said.

DeClemented remained in protective custody at Medical University Hospital on Friday, according to the newspaper. He has only been charged with reckless driving, according to a police report.
