Reports: Man Jailed for Religious Graffiti
Police arrest man who vandalized the Ravanel Bridge and city workers are involved in more than four accidents.

Religious Messages Land Man in Jail
Mount Pleasant police arrested Glenn Hair on vandalism charges late last week after he scrawled more than 50 religious messages in chalk along the Ravenel Bridge.
Pedestrians and motorists had called in reports of the various Christian messages. Police had removed more than 52 messages when they saw Hair walking back toward Mount Pleasant.

Hair told police he wrote the messages because “God told him to do so.” Officers arrested Hair on vandalism charges and transported him to the Charleston County Jail, according to reports.

There were four vehicle incidents involving Mount Pleasant-owned vehicles last week. One crash resulted in two people being transported to the hospital with injuries.
Police still are investigating the most serious, which happened on Sept. 9 when a town-owned dump truck lost control on the northbound lane of the Ravenel Bridge. The city worker said the truck’s brakes failed. That crash involved six vehicles, and two people were transported for medical treatment, but both were released by the following day.
An off-duty police officer's unmarked red Chevy Impala was struck in an accident on the same day. That three-car accident on Interstate 26 near the I-526 merger, did not result in serious injuries, and it was reportedly the fault of a driver who struck the rear of the police car and another vehicle.
A town employee was apparently struck in the knee very lightly by a police cruiser on the same day, reports state. The woman said she was not injured and there was no damage to the police car. The officer admitted fault in the incident and said he thought he just barely missed the woman, who was walking in a city parking lot as the police officer was leaving.
A fourth accident occurred on Sept. 10 when a police officer scrubbed a fence at the old Wando High School with his patrol car. The accident caused damage to the vehicle.
