Santorum to Speak in Summerville

Rep. Tim Scott to host former Pennsylvania senator on Nov. 12.

Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum will speak in Summerville on Nov. 12 in the fifth installment of Rep. Tim Scott's "Tim's Town Halls."

The 11:30 a.m. forum at the Summerville Country Club, if it works like the previous town halls, will afford Santorum the chance to give a campaign speech followed by a question-and-answer session moderated by Scott.

So far, Scott has hosted former Utah Gov. John Huntsman, Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Atlanta businessman Herman Cain.

Santorum, a 53-year-old two-term senator, is struggling in the polls, barely registering in the single-digits in most samples. Just 1 percent of Palmetto State's voters said they would support him in the primary, according to an October NBC News/Martist poll.

The Washington Post on Friday said his stock value among his party has declined steadily since Cain emerged as a serious candidate. The paper ranks him eight of the eight most-credible candidates still in the race.
