The South Carolina Lowcountry woke up this morning to a second day of rainy conditions.
The area saw more than 1.36 inches of rain on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston, and the precipitation is expected to continue this morning.
The Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for low-lying areas until about 10 a.m. this morning. On average, the are will see more than half an inch of rain today, but it could be heavier in some parts.
Some areas could see up to 3 inches of rain today, however. The Weather Service said Folly Beach could experience flooding.
“Rainfall rates occasionally as high as 2 to 3 inches per hour will persist through mid morning,” the Weather Service statement reads. “This heavy rain will produce standing water on roads and will produce minor flooding.”
The rain showers are expected to move north and clear out by early afternoon. Another storm is drifting to the east of Charleston, and the Weather Channel shows some chances that it could push through the area this evening.
The rain has been good news, since a drought has persisted since the first of the year. Even with all the wet stuff lately, the area still had a 7-inch rain deficit for the year, according to the Weather Service.
