
Mount Pleasant Town officials are in talks now to replace Town Attorney R. Allen Young, who will retire in December after 22 years on the job.
Young, who left private practice to take the full-time job, said he’s sad to leave but excited about retirement.
“I’m looking forward to retirement, and I am very humbled to have served the people of Mount Pleasant,” Young said. “I am sad to leave, but I’m very excited about this new chapter in my personal life.”

Young served four years as an active-duty U.S. Air Force judge advocate general, and then for 18 years was a reserve JAG officer. He retired from the military as a lieutenant colonel.
A 1974 Citadel graduate, Young obtained his law degree in 1977 from the University of South Carolina. He is a Charleston native.

Town Council members met in closed session Tuesday night to discuss Young’s replacement. His last day on the job will be December 31.
