Town: Slow Down for Construction

Construction is proceeding at a brisk pace in Mount Pleasant and Mayor Billy Swails is reminding drivers to exercise caution while traveling through construction and school crossing zones, according to a town news release.

“Safety in our roadways is our top priority,” Swails said. “Reducing the speed limit in work zones protects motorists as well as crews doing this important work. We must also remain vigilant for pedestrians who must cross busy roadways, and particularly for children who utilize school crossing zones daily.”

Drivers traveling through the construction zones are asked to be aware of equipment and crews working in the area and of pedestrians.
