
Authorities today recovered a body in the Francis Marion National Forest within a few miles of where Dara Watson's burned-out SUV was recovered a little over a week ago.
Mount Pleasant Police Chief Harry Sewell made the announcement around 1 p.m. on Friday after a search party of nearly 80 spent the morning combing the area around the site of the fire.

Authorities are working now to confirm if the body is that of Watson, who was last seen by her family on Feb. 6 and was reported missing on Feb. 10, said police spokesman Capt. Stan Gragg.

Police have said they believe Watson's fiance, David Hedrick, played a role in her disappearance. Hedrick committed suicide on Feb. 10, just hours after police contacted him in their missing-person investigation.
