Weekend Holiday Activities

Pull out your yule log, sweater and be merry. There's a ton of holiday stuff happening this weekend.

Sunday's tree lighting, fireworks and holiday parade on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant will be the signature weekend event, but there are plenty of other events this weekend to get you into the Christmas spirit. Here's a quick run-down. You can see more events on Patch and add your own.

Mt. Pleasant Singing Christmas Tree
Today, December 9

Featuring 11 songs, this performance in it's 30th year is accompanied by Wando High's orchestra.

Jingle Bell Run and Walk for Arthritis
Tomorrow, December 10

3500 N Highway 17, Mount Pleasant, SC, $30

Participants wear their reindeer antlers and/or themed costumes and tie jingle bells to their shoelaces and run or walk a five-kilometer route with their team members. $30.

Christmas Bazaar
Tomorrow, December 10

At Ocean Grove UMC, features hand-made jams, jellies, baked goods and frozen casseroles.  Lunch includes, she crab soup, okra soup, shrimp and pasta salad, chicken salad, hoagie sandwiches and desserts. Dine-in or take out.

Proceeds benefit the church food pantry and mission programs.

Handmade Holiday Winter Market
Tomorrow, December 10

Local vendors will display their wares both inside the restaurant and on the outdoor patio at Red Drum. Vendors participating include Dee Ruel Jewelry and Paper, Add Libb Designs, Treats For Tresses, Barry Beaux, and more. Free.

Holiday Market and Craft Show
Tomorrow, December 10
, 11:00 am, 645 Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant, SC, FREE

The Festival is a combination of locally grown fresh produce, baked goods, hot food and homemade preserves. Hand crafted gift by more than 100 local artisans will include Christmas ornaments, glass work, lighthouses, whimsical holiday crafts, doll clothing, and original art by locally recognized potters, painters and photographers. Live entertainment with a holiday twist will flow through the market.

Children activities will include face painting, a jump castle and a visit with Santa Claus. Santa will visit the market, listen to Christmas wishes and hand out a treat.

Town of Mt. Pleasant Tree Lighting and Parade
Sunday, December 11
, 5:30 pm, 645 Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant, SC, FREE

More than 100 floats will march down Coleman Boulevard as the Mount Pleasant Christmas Light Parade sets sail to the delight of thousands of residents and visitors. The tree lighting and fireworks display will begin at approximately 5:30 pm at Moultrie Middle School, immediately followed by the parade beginning at around 5:45 pm. The parade starts at the intersection of Coleman Boulevard and Pelzer Drive, then continues past Shem Creek to conclude at the Sea Island Shopping Center around 7:15 pm.
