Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:

  1. On Monday, crews were searching the ocean for a swimmer who went missing in the area of Ocean Boulevard and 7th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach. According to officials, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department is using drones and jet skis in their search. The Department put a double red flag in effect due to ocean conditions on Monday afternoon. No information has yet been released on the swimmer's identity. (WBTW)
  2. If you recently purchased a lottery ticket in North Myrtle Beach, you may be the lucky winner of $100,000. A Palmetto Cash 5 ticket sold at Dodges Store at 2609 Highway 17 South last week matched all five numbers drawn on Sunday, which were 13-24-27-28-38 (Power-Up: 2) The ticketholder has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize from the South Carolina Education Lottery. (WMBF)
  3. Myrtle Beach gas prices are nearly 50 cents higher per gallon than they were this time last month and 11.7 cents higher than a week ago, according to GasBuddy data. A survey of nearly 200 area gas stations found that the average price of gas in Myrtle Beach is currently $4.58 per gallon. As of Monday, Jun. 13, prices ranged from $4.42 to $4.79. This is still significantly lower than the national average of over $5 per gallon. (WMBF)
  4. Horry County will be fining pet owners who leave their furry friends tethered outside during "extreme weather" of 90 degrees or warmer. Pet owners must either bring the animal inside the home or provide another "proper shelter" that fits the animal's entire body and is not made of a heat-conducting material. The penalty for exposing an animal to extreme temperatures can include up to 30 days in jail or a $500 fine. (wpde.com)
