• Lowcountry nonprofit offers free medical care to the uninsured (postandcourier.com) — If you’re uninsured in Ridgeland, Bluffton Jasper Volunteers in Medicine has been offering free primary and specialty care at its local clinic since 2016. Staffed by volunteer doctors, nurses, and administrators, the nonprofit now runs permanent Ridgeland and Bluffton locations, providing thousands of Lowcountry neighbors with consistent, relationship-based medical care each year. 
• SLED now has twin investigations into a Lowcountry treasurer (postandcourier.com) — Ridgeland readers should know that state police are conducting two active investigations involving Jasper County Treasurer Michael Skinner, centered on alleged threats in a message and questions about county fund spending. The probes, requested by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office, are ongoing and focus on both the communication and bonus payments made to Skinner and his staff.
