• Dog euthanized after rabies exposure in Greenville Co. (wspa.com) — A rabid skunk was found near Plum Orchard Court and Farmbrook Way in Simpsonville, leading to a dog being euthanized and one person referred for treatment. State health officials urge Simpsonville residents to avoid wild animals, keep pets’ rabies shots current, and call the 24-hour rabies line if they or their animals may have been exposed.
   

• USC student one of two killed in crash day after her birthday, officials say (thestate.com) — A 20-year-old Simpsonville resident and USC student, Adriana Torres-Lopez, was killed in a head-on crash on I-385 in Laurens County just a day after her birthday. Authorities say her southbound Subaru collided with a northbound Nissan traveling the wrong way, killing both drivers. Investigators are still working to determine why the Nissan entered oncoming traffic.
