Thank You and Farewell, Simpsonville

Beginning today, numerous Patch sites throughout the state and nation will lose their local editors amid re-organization. 

After more than two years as a local Patch editor originally in Lexington, and currently in Simpsonville and Mauldin, it is time to say goodbye. It's been a pleasure and an honor serving you.

Patch, which is owned by AOL, launched its South Carolina sites beginning in June 2011. Simpsonville, the state's youngest site, was launched in the late summer of 2012. We've covered the presidential primaries here in South Carolina, your schools, businesses, crime and everything else in between. It has been a challenging but extremely rewarding job. 

As part of a major re-organization at Patch, the local editor position in South Carolina and at many other Patch websites throughout the nation will be eliminated effective 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 15. Hundreds of communities just like Simpsonville and all of the Patch communities in our state will lose their editors. 

However, Patch will continue to exist to serve communities here and across the country. South Carolina sites are not shutting down on Tuesday. (The Northeast Columbia and North Charleston sites are the only sites in the state to shut down completely.) 

You can still post events, write a blog or post on the boards. You will continue to receive your daily newsletter. I hope that you will continue to fully use the site to share information with your neighbors.

Thank you, Simpsonville. Thank you for spreading the word about Patch. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. Thank you for believing in Patch. 

It is an honor and privilege to have served as your Patch editor, and I will miss you and your wonderful city.
