Beginning today, numerous Patch sites throughout the state and nation will lose their local editors amid re-organization.Β
After more than two years as a local Patch editor originally in Lexington, and currentlyΒ in Simpsonville and Mauldin, it is time to say goodbye.Β It's been a pleasure and an honorΒ serving you.
Patch, which is owned by AOL,Β launched its South Carolina sites beginningΒ in June 2011. Simpsonville, the state's youngest site, was launched in the late summer of 2012. We've covered the presidential primaries here in South Carolina, your schools, businesses, crime and everything else in between.Β It has been a challenging but extremely rewarding job.Β

As part of a major re-organization at Patch,Β the local editor position in South CarolinaΒ and at many other Patch websites throughout the nation will beΒ eliminated effective 6 p.m.Β today, Tuesday, Oct. 15. Hundreds of communities just like Simpsonville and all of the Patch communities in our stateΒ will lose their editors.Β
However, Patch will continue to exist toΒ serve communities here andΒ across the country.Β South Carolina sites are not shutting down on Tuesday. (The Northeast Columbia and North Charleston sites are the only sites in the stateΒ to shut down completely.)Β
