Gregg Middle Students Evacuated, Fire Officials Respond

Fire reported in student bathroom at school. No injuries or damage reported.

Updated 10:54 a.m. Feb. 6: Dorchester County School District Two spokeswoman Pat Raynor said classes have resumed at Gregg Middle School after an evacuation due to a student bathroom fire Wednesday morning.

She said the fire caused heavy smoke, and that students were evacuated without incident. The building is undamaged.

It was originally reported that the fire began in a teacher workroom.

The five classes held in the wing where the fire began have been moved to a temporary location for the remainder of the day. Raynor said classes will likely resume in their original locations as early as Thursday.

Fire officials are investigating the cause.

Students at Gregg Middle School have been evacuated due to a reported fire in a teacher workroom.

Summerville Fire and Rescue has responded to the school on Greenwave Boulevard, WCIV reported.

No injuries have been reported.
