Katie's Krops Hosts Inaugural Summer Camp
Growing practices and more taught at children's camp July 16-18 in Pelion.

S.C. farm WP Rawl will host the first-ever Katie's Krops summer camp fothis summer.
Katie's Krops was founded in Summerville by Katie Stagliano, who was 9 years old when she founded the nonprofit focused on growing food for hungry families. The camp is an hour-and-a-half away from Summerville in Pelion, southwest of Columbia.
Every child that has received a grant from Katie’s Krops is eligible to apply for a spot at the camp. The immersive experience will reward them for their previous efforts and teach them about growing practices, budgeting and giving back to their communities.

The camp is July 16-18. At camp, children will have the opportunity to learn from Katie and meet some special, undisclosed guests.
Each year, Katie’s Krops, opens a grant process for kids ages 9 to 16 to receive funds to plant their own gardens. This in turn helps Katie’s Krops work towards the goal of having at least one garden in all 50 states.

Recently, Katie's Krops broke ground on its 55th garden at Pye Elementary in Summerville.
"I am so proud of all of our young growers across the country,” Katie said. “It has been a dream of mine to meet them in person, to learn from them and further empower them to grow a healthy end to hunger in their communities. I am so grateful to WP Rawl for making my dreams a reality by hosting and sponsoring the camp and supporting our grant cycle."
