Microquake Rumbles Near Cedar Grove
Sunday morning earthquake measures 1.5 magnitude.

The Middleton fault rumbled quietly early Sunday morning off of Dorchester Road between Summerville and North Charleston, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The microquake measured a 1.5 magnitude on the Richter scale at around 2 a.m. Sunday, March 3, and the quake's epicenter was in Cedar Grove, off of Clearview Drive. A 1.5 is considered a microquake and is rarely felt by people nearby.Â
This is the third quake of the year for the Middleton fault, which caused the great earthquake of 1886 that destroyed the Charleston area. The first was Jan. 29 and measured 1.4 magnitude, and the second was on Feb. 22 and measured 2.2 magnitude.Â
