First responders treated him on scene before flying him to MUSC’s Burn Center, where he’s receiving further care for extensive burns to the right side of his body.

• DCSO Chief Deputy Bruce Owens receives Order of the Palmetto (postandcourier.com) — A Walterboro native, Chief Deputy Bruce Owens, has received South Carolina’s highest civilian honor, the Order of the Palmetto, after more than 50 years of military and law enforcement service. Dorchester County Sheriff Sam Richardson and state lawmakers praised Owens’ decades of leadership across several Lowcountry agencies, including his recent role as chief deputy.
