Antioch Man Suspected In String Of Break-Ins Arrested

A Metro Police officer broke his ankle while arresting a man suspected in a number of home burglaries in Antioch.

ANTIOCH, TN β€” A Nashville man, free on bond in a home burglary indictment, was arrested Wednesday as an investigation continues into a string of break-ins in South Nashville.

Wednesday, officers in a saturation patrol of the October Woods area, where six residential burglaries were reported between July and September, spotted a black Toyota Camry reported stolen in late June and seen in the area of an August 10 burglary in Antioch. Officer Colin Feeney approached the Camry after it had pulled into a driveway on Hurley Court and the driver, Redeer N. Ramazan, 24, jumped from the car and ran away.

He was chased on foot through the neighborhood and across busy Old Hickory Boulevard. Officer Brian Penny caught up to Ramazan, who allegedly pushed Penny to the ground, fracturing the policeman's ankle. Ramazan was apprehended shortly thereafter.

Inside the Camry, investigators say they found "an assault-type rifle" in the passenger seat, a pistol in the center console, bags of jewelry in the backseat floorboard and multiple jewelry boxes in the trunk. The victim from a September 5 burglary on nearby Red Apple Road came to the scene and reportedly identified several items of jewelry in the car as coming from his house.
