Guns Used In Antioch Church Shooting Bought Legally, Police Say

The four guns allegedly carried by Emanuel Samson during Sunday's shooting at Burnette Chapel were purchased legally, detectives say.

NASHVILLE, TN β€” Both guns allegedly carried by Emanuel Samson during Sunday's shooting at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ and two other guns inside his car were legally purchased, Metro Police announced Wednesday. Samson is not a valid handgun carry permit holder.

Samson, 25, is charged with murdering Melania Crow, 39, in the Pin Hook Road church's parking lot as services were concluding Sunday. Investigators say he then entered the sanctuary, shooting and wounding six other people and pistol-whipping 22-year-old usher Caleb Engle. Samson was due in court Wednesday on the murder charge, but that hearing was delayed until October 6. Police say more charges are likely.
