20-Year-Old Suspect In 2014 South Nashville Murder Arrested
A 20-year-old man who allegedly escaped from a group home earlier this year was arrested early Wednesday for a 2014 murder.

NASHVILLE, TN β A 20-year-old escapee from a group home was arrested early Wednesday for the 2014 murder and robbery of a man in South Nashville, according to Metro Police.
Police swore a warrant against Takyris Sims in February β shortly after his escape from the Monroe Harding Group Home β for the murder of Jorge Garnica in August 2014 outside Garnica's Edmondson Pike home. At the time, Sims was 16. He was arrested and booked into jail around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Detectives say that Sims and Shaquay Dodd, now 20, were attempting to rob Garnica and when Garnica resisted, he was shot and killed. Dodd was arrested in April 2016 and charged with homicide. He remains jailed pending trial.
