- The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga (ULGC) and the Unity Group of Chattanooga helped Chattanooga Celebrate Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Day yesterday. The Unity Group hosted its 53rd annual MLK Parade and March, which began at 1:00 p.m. and made way for the group’s main program, featured speaker Pastor Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant at Olivet Baptist Church. ULGC also hosted its third annual MLK Day Youth Leadership Symposium. This year’s theme, "exploring historical and current social justice matters," was timely to current events and included games and debates for attendees. (WDEF News 12)
- A Chattanooga family is safe after a Sunday night car fire. Fire crews responded to a call about a fire at a Hixson-area garage that was forcing flames into a home's basement and attic. Getting the blaze under control took fire crews several hours. The home's occupants – a mother, her two children, and their dog – are safe and will receive aid from the Red Cross. (News Channel 9)
- A report recently found that life expectancy in Chattanooga is among the lowest in the nation. MoneyGeek, the outlet that conducted the research, analyzed 119 metro areas with populations higher than 250,000. The site created its rankings using data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute's county health rankings. Chattanooga came 10th on the list, with life expectancy of 76. (WTVC)

- Anthony “Brophesor X” Wiley responded to a portrait of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Hunter Museum of American Art's collection. His response was followed by a performance from J.
