Here are the top three stories in Chattanooga today:
- Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp and District Attorney Coty Wamp have announced a collaboration between the county and the General Sessions Court in an effort to increase the roadside trash pickup assignments, tonnage and road miles in 2024. The goal, according to the mayor and district attorney, is to increase the assignments to 2,000 and road miles to 6,000 after a 50 percent decrease since 2016. The funding for roadside trash pickup will come from TDOT litter contract, a state litter grant, and a monetary contract with Chattanooga to be used within the city. (The Chattanoogan)
- The North Chattanooga Council of the Chattanooga Area Chamber will be hosting a speed networking event on Feb. 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hamilton County Business Development Center. The event provides time for participants to interact with one another in a one-on-one fashion and share business cards to expand their professional networks. In addition, this month's Council meeting is being sponsored by BNI Southeast Tennessee in celebration of International Networking Week. (The Chattanoogan)
- The Chattanooga Boys Choir is joining the Chattanooga Choral Society for the Preservation of African American Song to host the 30th annual Simmons-O'Neal Memorial Concert on Feb. 12 at 3:00 p.m. The concert will honor Edmonia Simmons and Everett O'Neal, two respected Chattanooga music educators.
