Here are the three top stories today in Chattanooga:
- After a week-long strike by maintenance mechanics at Chattanooga's Mueller plant, the union that represents the workers voted to approve a new four-year contract with the manufacturer. The new contract included better pay and some additional vacation pay. (Chattanooga Times Free Press)
- An abandoned dog named Lilo was found wandering with her leash still attached. Chattanooga's McKamey Animal Center worked to reunite the dog and the owner, a homeless woman who left a note on the dog's collar asking for someone to help the dog. The animal center is working to help the woman, her two children, and the dog find resources so they can stay together. (Y100)
- Developers are demolishing a building on Chattanooga's Main Street after a wall of the building collapsed and crushed a car several weeks ago. The brick wall collapsed during the storms on Jan. 12, and on the same day as the collapse, developers filed for its demolition. Developers plan to build a Hyatt hotel in the space.
