Board members instead pointed residents to a state law that lets at least 10 citizens take a public-nuisance case directly to chancery or circuit court, shifting the fight from City Hall to state judges.

2. Love could not wait: Tennessee couple marries in Chattanooga hospital room (wlos.com) — A Knoxville couple chose to marry inside a Chattanooga hospital room while the groom undergoes treatment for leukemia and kidney failure, turning a difficult stay in the Scenic City into a moment of hope. With help from compassionate hospital staff, the bride even donned a hospital gown so her husband wouldn’t feel out of place, sharing their story to comfort others facing uncertainty.

3. Chattanooga non-profit hindered from rescuing dog (wdef.com) — A Chattanooga-based nonprofit, TiggerTown, is struggling to rescue a stray dog that’s roamed busy corridors like Lee Highway, Shallowford Road, Chapman Road, and Highway 153 for years and may have been hit by a car. After someone removed their camera and other gear from a feeding station, volunteers are working to replace equipment so they can safely capture the dog, get vet care, and place it in a home.

4. Man gets 57 months on federal charges for jewelry store robbery (timesfreepress.com) — A man has been sentenced to nearly five years in federal prison for robbing Markman’s Diamonds near Hamilton Place in Chattanooga, where employees were zip-tied at gunpoint and jewelry and personal items were stolen. 5. Tennessee Drivers Now Required to Learn Bicycle Hand Signals (wdef.com) — New Tennessee driver-education rules, highlighted from Chattanooga, now require all new drivers to learn basic bicycle hand signals so they can better share the road with cyclists.
