  1. On Monday, the Chattanooga Regional Homeless Coalition began its point-in-time count of the region's homeless population. Organizers hope the count will show a stabilized population rather than an increase as it has over the last couple of years, including a 177 percent increase in Hamilton County between 2021 and 2022. The annual count shows homelessness in the region's 11 counties. (Subscription: Chattanooga Times Free Press)
  2. A local Chattanooga nonprofit specializing in providing health care to populations in need reported that the Tennessee government would stop taking federal grants for HIV treatment and prevention in the summer. The nonprofit will lose $254,000 in funding that was supposed to go toward prevention and other outreach programs for sexually transmitted diseases. (WDEF News 12)
  3. The University of Tennessee's school of nursing received a $1.5 million grant for initiatives addressing community-specific health care differences and issues. The grant comes from the Intrastate Network to Deliver Equity and Eliminate Disparities (INDEED), one of UTC's partners in providing workshops and events in the community. (The University Echo)
