ETSU Students Deliver Strong Performance In Regional Investment Competition
The team placed in the top three of the Nashville region for their valuation of Tractor Supply.

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – A team of East Tennessee State University business students
performed strongly in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge.
The team of four students in the ETSU Equity Valuation team gained real-world experience
as they assumed the role of research analyst. The 2022 CFA Institute Research Challenge,
held in Middle Tennessee, involved more than 1,000 schools and 5,000 students. CFA,
a global nonprofit organization of investment professionals, sponsors the intercollegiate
competition.

The competition requires teams to present their valuations and analysis of a company
to a group of investment professionals. Under the direction of Dr. William Trainor,
a professor of finance in ETSU’s Department of Economics and Finance, ETSU’s team placed in the top three of the Nashville region for their valuation of Tractor Supply.
ETSU team members include Connor Day, Rebecca Eubanks, Kaitlyn Gorzka and Joshua Tierney.
Local CFA societies hold regional competitions and winners move on to compete at the
national and global levels.
