Jellico Police Dispatcher And Fireman Face Drug Charges: Report

Campbell County Sheriff's Office led a year-long undercover drug investigation before presenting evidence to a grand jury last week.

JELLICO, TN - A Jellico Police dispatcher and firefighter faces charges of selling drugs following a year-long undercover narcotics investigation. Campbell County Sheriff Robbie Goins said that as of Monday morning his department had started arresting nearly 40 drug offenders. The arrests are based on evidence of drugs, money and vehicles gathered over the last year.

WVLT-TV reported Goins identified the police dispatcher and fireman as Robert Rookard. The arrest was part of Operation Thanksgiving Harvest, Goins said, adding that “some folks haven’t lived long enough to celebrate another holiday because of drugs and our goal is to keep these alleged drug dealers in jail through the Thanksgiving holiday.”

The Campbell County Grand Jury heard evidence last week against the individuals arrested. Crews with the Campbell County Sheriff's Office, District Attorney's 8th Judicial Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, Tennessee Highway Patrol, LaFollette Police Department, Caryville Police Department, Jacksboro Police Department and the Jellico Police Department helped work the case.
