1. One dead after shooting on E. Magnolia Avenue in Knoxville (wate.com) — An 18-year-old man died after being shot Friday night on E. Magnolia Avenue in Knoxville, and police are still searching for whoever is responsible. Knoxville officers found him in a parking lot near Olive Street, and investigators believe an earlier altercation inside a nearby building may be connected. KPD is asking anyone with information to contact East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.
   

2. TDOT's 5th annual No Trash November removed more than 77,000 pounds of litter from Tennessee roadways and waterways (wbbjtv.com) — Knoxville volunteers with Keep Knoxville Beautiful pulled nearly 14,000 pounds of litter off the UT Knoxville campus and across the city, earning top honors in TDOT’s No Trash November campaign. Statewide, more than 77,000 pounds were collected, and residents can still join year‑round cleanup programs and earn rewards for anti‑litter efforts.

They highlight how social media, financial pressure, and loss can intensify the “holiday blues,” and point locals toward support from the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee and the McNabb Center.
   

4. 'Use your hands and heart': Volunteers hand out 3,000 Empty Stocking Fund boxes (knoxnews.com) — A long-running Knoxville holiday tradition just delivered 3,000 Empty Stocking Fund food boxes to families selected by the Knoxville-Knox County Community Action Committee. Powered by local donors and volunteers at the Jacob Building, the program focuses solely on helping Knoxville-area residents enjoy a full Christmas meal and a week of groceries at home.
   

5. Vol wide receivers give back to community amid the holidays (wate.com) — Two Tennessee Vols wide receivers spent time in Knoxville handing out blankets, coats, and other winter essentials with KARM to neighbors in need. As they prepare for their bowl game, Braylon Staley and Mike Matthews say serving the community, especially at Christmas, is just as important as what happens on the field.
