The fight then grew, spilling from the portable and into the main building of the Chestnut Hill school and then out into the parking lot.

During the melee, another 13-year-old girl allegedly attacked a third police officer in the classroom where the fight began and a fourth officer was reportedly hit in the face several times by a 14-year-old.

Windows in the classroom and in the principal's office were broken by two 13-year-old students. The student who broke the windows in the office was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a minor hand injury.

In total, 14 juveniles were arrested, most charged with disorderly conduct, though others face additional vandalism, assault and resisting arrest charges. The students will also face discipline from the school district.

In addition to its usual complement of school resource officers, the school has been monitored by South Precinct Flex officers since the fight.

Metro Police have not said what sparked the fight, but one student told Fox 17 "a boy and a girl got into a fight, and then some boy was dissing their gang and that’s why they got to fighting."
