5. Paying more into your own neighborhood: New Midtown biz improvement district approved (fox17.com) — Metro Council has approved a new Midtown Central Business Improvement District, meaning 543 property owners will pay extra annual assessments starting in 2027 to fund cleaning, maintenance, and security in the neighborhood near Music Row and Vanderbilt. Supporters say it gives Midtown residents and businesses more control over safety and quality of life, while some homeowners worry about higher costs and oversight of how the money is spent.
