Tennessee State University, under new leadership, shows signs of a progress after years of financial struggles (newschannel5.com) — Tennessee State University in Nashville is showing a major financial and academic turnaround under new leadership, with higher graduation rates and a much-improved budget picture. Lawmakers are responding with renewed confidence and a three-year board extension, while a local autistic teen is also making news by selling a self-created coloring book to support the Nashville Zoo.
   

2. Nashville marks 26 years since 15-year-old vanished on her way to Glencliff High School (fox17.com) — Nashville authorities are again asking for help in the 26-year-old disappearance of 15-year-old Lakisha Danielle Jones, who vanished on her way from 1st Avenue South to Glencliff High School in 1999. Investigators shared her description and an age-progressed photo, urging anyone with information to contact Metro Nashville Police or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
   

3. Resolution on reforms at 911 department passes through Metro Council (wkrn.com) — Metro Council has approved a resolution aimed at improving workplace culture and accountability inside Nashville’s 911 dispatch center after repeated complaints of a toxic environment. The measure, driven by the council’s Women’s Caucus, calls for clearer communication on policy changes and responds to dispatcher reports of anxiety, harassment, and leadership concerns within the Department of Emergency Communications.
   

4. Nashville comedian John Crist donates over 100 bikes to Last Minute Toy Store (wsmv.com) — A Nashville comedian just bought and donated 120 bikes to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office’s Last Minute Toy Store, which opens today on Harding Place. The store will be open Dec. 18–20 for families needing toys, especially for kids ages 4 to 10, and is still seeking donations during operating hours.
   

5. Wanted suspect in 2019 murder arrested in connection to weekend shooting in Nashville (wsmv.com) — Metro Nashville Police say a man wanted in a 2019 Nashville homicide has been arrested after a weekend shooting at a Christmas party on West Trinity Lane. The suspect was allegedly held down by a witness until officers arrived, and now faces multiple charges including first-degree murder and aggravated assault. The weekend victim was taken to Skyline Medical Center with a leg wound.
