- Community members and local residents in a town just outside of Nashville are publicly demanding city officials take action as homeless encampments continue to cause issues. Many individuals are complaining that squatters are setting up makeshift homes and RVs in public parking lots and streets, leaving trash around people's residential properties. The Nashville Metro Homeless Impact Division is helping to alleviate these issues and find more homeless individuals potential housing opportunities. (Fox News)
- Nashville's Metropolitan is suing Gov. Bill Lee after announcing a new law that gives the state the power to appoint a majority of the city's airport authority board. This lawsuit will essentially argue that this new law violates the Tennessee Constitution's Home Rule Amendment, which prevents state legislature from passing laws that impact the governance of only a specific county or city without local voters' approval. - On Saturday, Jun. 10, one of Nashville's beloved sound engineers tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident at the age of 35. According to Metro Police, Benjamin Cowherd was traveling eastbound on Thompson Lane when he was struck by a 19-year-old driver. Once police arrived on the scene, Cowherd was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he ended up passing away and the motorist was charged with driving without a license and not having insurance.
