Scammers use spoofed numbers to con thousands from Nashville family looking for missing cat (wsmv.com) — An East Nashville family is warning neighbors after scammers spoofed Metro Nashville Police and Nashville Humane Association phone numbers to steal more than $2,100 during their search for a missing cat. Officials stress they will not request money over the phone and urge pet owners to be cautious when posting contact details online and to microchip their animals. Fortunately, the cat made it home safely on his own.

2. Stolen stroller leads East Nashville family to discover theft pattern (fox17.com) — An East Nashville family is warning neighbors after security video showed someone stealing their stroller, leading them to uncover a string of nearby porch thefts. Metro approves funding to support healthcare for Nashville's unhoused residents (newschannel5.com) — Metro Council has approved a $355,200 grant to keep Neighborhood Health providing medical, dental, behavioral care, and street medicine to thousands of unhoused residents in Nashville through June 2026. The nonprofit runs 10 clinics in the city, but says flat funding since 2008 and rising costs mean it will seek more Metro support while relying on donations to meet growing local need.

4. Nashville Metro Council defers $15 million downtown safety funding decision until January (newschannel5.com) — Nashville’s Metro Council has delayed deciding how to spend $15 million in state money for downtown safety projects until January 20, after a close 19–17 vote and vocal public pushback. Members stripped out two surveillance software tools, added tech funding for police and staff, and now plan to spend the extra time explaining the proposal and gathering more input from Nashville residents.

5. Brown University student in Nashville recounts tragedy, advocates for post-counseling (fox17.com) — A Brown University student now back home in Nashville is turning to local nonprofit Heart House for counseling after surviving the recent campus shooting in Rhode Island, and she’s urging others to seek help too. Nashville’s Heart House, part of Tennessee Voices for Victims, offers free support for anyone affected by mass violence while the suspected shooter remains at large.
